Duties and Responsibilities:
- Advise on legal risks, regulatory compliance, and jurisdictional considerations related to crypto products, tokenomics, and decentralized governance.
- Ensure compliance with AML, KYC, securities, tax, and data protection laws across relevant markets.
- Support token generation events (TGEs), airdrops, and community distributions from a legal and compliance perspective.
- Draft, review, and negotiate agreements including SAFTs, validator agreements, contributor contracts, and protocol governance terms.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations teams to ensure legal frameworks are integrated into technical designs and workflows.
- Monitor regulatory developments (e.g., SEC, MiCA, FATF) and assess their impact on the company’s products and markets.
- Develop internal policies, risk frameworks, and compliance procedures to support ongoing operations.
- Engage with external counsel, regulators, and industry groups to represent the organization’s interests and stay informed.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- JD or equivalent legal degree; admission to practice law in one or more relevant jurisdictions.
- Proven experience advising crypto companies, DAOs, exchanges, or DeFi protocols on regulatory matters.
- Strong understanding of global regulatory frameworks including securities law, AML/KYC, and data privacy (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Familiarity with smart contracts, tokenomics, decentralized governance, and blockchain infrastructure.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal topics to non-legal stakeholders.
- Experience drafting token-related documentation, structuring international legal entities, or managing cross-border legal risks.
- Ability to operate independently in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
- Bonus: Experience working in-house at a crypto-native company or contributing to public policy efforts in Web3.
