Objectives of this role
- Design and maintain highly available distributed systems that can handle massive scale and traffic patterns.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement reliability best practices from development through production.
- Build automation frameworks and tools that eliminate manual operational overhead and reduce human error.
- Lead incident response efforts and drive continuous improvement through data-driven postmortem analysis.
Your tasks
- Implement comprehensive observability solutions using metrics, logs, traces, and alerting systems.
- Establish and maintain SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets aligned with business objectives.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation.
- Manage multi-cloud Kubernetes environments and container orchestration platforms.
- Design and optimize CI/CD pipelines for safe, automated application deployments.
- Conduct chaos engineering experiments to proactively identify and resolve system weaknesses.
- Mentor engineering teams on reliability patterns and operational best practices.
Required skills and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 5+ years of experience in site reliability, platform engineering, or DevOps roles.
- Expert-level proficiency in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Advanced programming skills in Python, Go, Rust, or Java for automation and tooling.
- Deep understanding of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).
- Solid knowledge of Linux/Unix system administration and networking fundamentals.
- Strong analytical thinking and systematic problem-solving approach.
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd, Consul Connect).
- Knowledge of event-driven architectures and streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis, Pub/Sub).
- Familiarity with chaos engineering tools and methodologies (Chaos Monkey, Litmus, Gremlin).
- Understanding of distributed tracing and APM solutions (Jaeger, Zipkin, New Relic).
- Experience with regulated environments and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, PCI DSS, HIPAA).
- Cloud platform certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Architect).
- Background in machine learning operations (MLOps) or high-frequency trading systems.
- Active contributions to open-source infrastructure tools or reliability engineering communities.
