Objectives of this Role
- Design and develop robotic systems that meet specific performance, reliability, and safety requirements
- Integrate advanced sensors, actuators, and control systems to create intelligent autonomous behaviors
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of robotics solutions into existing workflows
- Drive innovation through research and implementation of cutting-edge robotics technologies
- Establish best practices for robotic system design, testing, and deployment
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of the robotics engineering team
Your Tasks
- Design and implement robotic control systems using ROS, ROS2, or custom frameworks
- Develop path planning, motion control, and navigation algorithms for autonomous robots
- Program robotic systems in C++, Python, and MATLAB for various applications
- Integrate computer vision and machine learning capabilities for perception and decision-making
- Conduct kinematic and dynamic analysis of robotic mechanisms
- Design and execute comprehensive testing protocols including unit tests, integration tests, and field trials
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers on robot hardware design and optimization
- Implement safety systems and fail-safes to ensure reliable operation
- Document technical specifications, user manuals, and maintenance procedures
- Troubleshoot and debug complex electromechanical systems
- Stay current with advances in robotics research and industry trends
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical guidance on project feasibility
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Robotics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in robotics development and deployment
- Proficiency in programming languages including C++, Python, and MATLAB
- Strong experience with Robot Operating System (ROS/ROS2) and robotics middleware
- Solid understanding of control theory, kinematics, and dynamics
- Experience with sensor integration including LIDAR, cameras, IMUs, and force sensors
- Knowledge of path planning algorithms and simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM)
- Familiarity with embedded systems and real-time operating systems
- Experience with CAD software for mechanical design review and collaboration
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex systems
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Robotics, AI, or related field
- Experience with industrial robots (ABB, KUKA, Fanuc, Universal Robots)
- Knowledge of machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) for robotics applications
- Experience with collaborative robots (cobots) and human-robot interaction
- Familiarity with simulation environments (Gazebo, V-REP, Unity)
- Understanding of computer vision libraries (OpenCV, PCL)
- Experience with field robotics, mobile robots, or autonomous vehicles
- Knowledge of safety standards (ISO 10218, ISO/TS 15066)
- Publications or patents in robotics-related fields
- Experience with agile development methodologies
- Contributions to open-source robotics projects
