Objectives of this Role
- Design and build advanced applications for the Android platform that meet high standards of quality and performance
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to define and implement new features
- Ensure robustness, performance, and responsiveness of applications across diverse Android devices
- Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency
- Maintain code quality through testing, code reviews, and adherence to best practices
- Contribute to the evolution of our mobile development standards and architecture
- Mentor junior developers and share knowledge across the team
Your Tasks
- Develop and maintain Android applications using Kotlin and Java, following Material Design guidelines
- Implement clean architecture patterns (MVVM, MVP, MVI) for scalable and maintainable code
- Integrate RESTful APIs, GraphQL endpoints, and third-party libraries and SDKs
- Work with Android Jetpack components including Navigation, Room, WorkManager, and Compose
- Optimize application performance, memory usage, and battery consumption
- Implement robust offline capabilities and data synchronization strategies
- Write unit tests, integration tests, and UI tests using JUnit, Mockito, and Espresso
- Collaborate with designers to implement pixel-perfect, responsive UI designs
- Manage app releases through Google Play Console including beta testing and staged rollouts
- Monitor app performance and crash reports using Firebase Crashlytics and Analytics
- Implement security best practices including data encryption and secure authentication
- Participate in agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives
- Document technical specifications and maintain comprehensive code documentation
- Stay current with Android development trends and Google’s latest announcements
- Contribute to open-source Android projects and internal libraries
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of professional Android development experience
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java programming languages
- Deep understanding of Android SDK, Android Studio, and development tools
- Experience with Android architecture components and Jetpack libraries
- Solid understanding of mobile UI/UX principles and Material Design guidelines
- Experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, and network programming
- Knowledge of mobile application security and data protection
- Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git
- Understanding of mobile application lifecycle and memory management
- Experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Experience with Jetpack Compose for modern UI development
- Knowledge of Kotlin Coroutines and Flow for asynchronous programming
- Familiarity with dependency injection frameworks (Dagger/Hilt)
- Experience with cross-platform frameworks (Flutter, React Native)
- Understanding of backend technologies and microservices architecture
- Experience with Android TV, Wear OS, or Android Auto development
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices
- Contributions to published apps with significant user bases
- Google Associate Android Developer or Professional certification
- Experience with augmented reality (ARCore) or machine learning (ML Kit)
